history and purpose
The museum contains mineralogy,palaeontology (vertebrates and invertebrates),zoology(entomology,malacology,ornithology,termology)and prehistory collections.The new museum tour (to be inaugurated in 2007)comprises eleven rooms on two floors.Thecollections are accompanied by 3D panels,diorama and multimedia displays.One part of thetour is dedicated to "earth sciences";other rooms house displays on the theme of "life sci-ences",focusing on the eco-system,(coastal and marine areas,hills and mountains,caves andcaverns and protected areas)

The Museum has a richly supplied library of specialist material which,on request,can also be
consulted via Internet,and compiles the annual scientific review "Deeds of the Museum of
Natural History of the Maremma".
