A collection of works owned by the localarea health authority and on loan to theTown Hall is on display in one of the roomson the first floor of Palazzo Nerucci.Abozzetto by Giuseppe Nicola Nasini (1657-1737)"God the Father in Glory"probablymade for a church in Foligno in Umbria,was bought by the Town Hall in 2005 andis a new addition to the collection.The collection originates from former pri-vate collections,as can be seen in thechoice of the paintings,and nine of theworks on show were left to the hospital ofCastel del Piano in 1883 by the Vegni fam-ily.Five landscapes by different painters ofthe 19th century denote the fine taste for"landscapes"of the buyer.Two other worksin the collection focus on the theme of por-traits and are of particular importance asthey both were carried out by femaleartists,an extreme rarity at that time:theself portrait in pastel of the Venetian artistRosalba Carriera (1675-1757)and a por-trait embroidered on silk (second half ofthe 18th century)presumed to be ofCosimo III dei Medici (1642-1723.Thetwo portraits cannot really be compared;the first being the work of a great painter,Rosalba Carriera,and the second,the workof an anonymous,but nonetheless highlyskilled hand,employed in this traditionallyfeminine art form.
