Musei di Maremma

The Park was built in 1924 following the rules that imposed the construction of local memorial monuments to commemorate the fallen of the Great War (1915-1918). Each cypress had a plaque with the name of the war fallen born in Massa Marittima. Also the monument in memory of Giuseppe Garibaldi, which was built in 1904 by the sculptor Ettore Ferrari (1845-1929) and originally located in Piazza della Cattedrale (Cathedral Square), was transferred to the Park in 1938. Garibaldi, honorary citizen of Massa Marittima, holds a special place in the heart of the community.
