Pietro Aldi Cultural Centre

Address
Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 19 – Saturnia
Museum
Founded at the behest of Banca Tema, the new Pietro Aldi Cultural Centre is located in the heart of Saturnia. Pietro Aldi was a painter born in nearby Manciano in 1852 who studied with Luigi Mussini in Siena. During his short life (he died in 1888) he made a name for himself as a painter of historical scenes, from the Middle Ages to the Risorgimento that characterized his own times. Aldi was essentially an eclectic artist, however, as the realism of his numerous portraits clearly reveals. Gradually collected and carefully restored, the works now displayed in the historic headquarters of the bank conjure up many aspects of the Maremma and its inhabitants during the 1800s. On the first floor there is also a library for children and teenagers, where creative reading labs with free admission are held periodically. For information: tel. +39 3426199885
