Piazza Centrale n. 2 – Montenero d’Orcia
Museum
The “Museo della Vite e del Vino di Montenero d’Orcia”, or “Vine and Wine Museum of Montenero d’Orcia”, is an exhibition space featuring panels with descriptive images of viniculture and traditional objects used in viticulture and winemaking. Of particular interest is the “pigiauva”, an oak wine press dating from 1700, recovered from the countryside of Petricci (in the municipality of Semproniano), complete with original press plate, levers and basket, in use until 1910. Inside the museum you can also find information on two of the most important typical products of Mount Amiata: chestnuts and olive oil. Guided tours are available.
